Chest Pains, Aspirin – my call to action
October 10, 2011 Leave a comment
I was at a meeting today; somewhere about 1/2 way through the meeting, it became apparent that someone outside the meeting was having problems and had laid down on a bench. Upon questioning her, she said she’d had chest pains, they were easing up and she’d be okay.
We called 911 (which the lady didn’t want us to do – we didn’t want to feel guilty that we didn’t call 911 in case she really was having a heart attack), then I went back inside to see if there was a doctor in the house. There was thankfully, and I went back to my meeting.
Then someone else came in and asked if anyone had any aspirin on them. Out of at least 90 people in the room, no one had any aspirin on them. Someone had it in their car – so they headed out to get it.
The ambulance/fire truck came and I believe they took her away. At this time I don’t know what the outcome is.
But, I can tell you that after that episode, I immediately went to CVS and bought some aspirin to carry around in my purse. I can’t believe no one had any on them – that could have been me lying out there on that bench – since I do have high cholesterol.
A word to you – if you don’t have any aspirin on you, please go and purchase some – you might save a life – and it could ultimately be yours.
